Description
The Contact 11 stands out among our 90/10 models due to its unique shape. This is among the widest in the waist of carving type skis but the wide tip gives it an aggressive sidecut. The real magic in its shape however comes from the heavily tapered tail. The narrow tail allows the skier to break out of a carve and skid the turn finish. Of all the expert 90/10 skis, this factor makes the Contact one of the most forgiving especially in moguls and shallow broken snow. The wider waist could almost have placed this ski in the 70/30 class but the edge grip and cruising stability really speaks more to groomer zoomers than anything else. The Contact 11 has the racing autodrive sidewall with a new fluid drive plate that integrates the binding into the ski construction. The result is a very smooth damp ride but with formidable energy at the end of the turn if you pressure the tail. The wide tip initiates turns by touching your ankle to the inside of your boot. What happens from there on is up to you. Tip it higher and higher, and you'll get a new age race type GS turn. Roll the ski flatter, and it'll break off and let you skid it around. Keep the ski mostly underneath you and it makes nice little short turns. I skied a 172 and felt that was the best all around size. Skiers looking for more of a GS ski feel might like the 178 better.

Dynastar Binding system:
Dynastar is using a new fully integrated rail called the "Fluid Drive" on the Contact models. The rail distributes pressure directly into the core and along the ski length while avoiding the additional weight of some systems. The plate feature allows the ski to flex freely without compromising edge grip or energy return. Each model of ski has a rail that is tailored to the characteristics of that model. The PX-12 is used with all the fluid drive plates.
