Which do you prefer to watch and/or to compete in.
The local grass root events , or the big national hyped mondo events.
I see progression in the sport happening everywhere besides comps, but I personally like the vibe of a local kid winning a comp by doing a trick that isn't mainstream, or hucking himself of the cliff that everyone has eyed and no one else has conjured up the courage to drop.
However, the DVR will definately be recording every second of the X Games.
