Goggles - 2006/11/11 04:00 How important are goggles to a person that rides about 10-15 times a year? I have some $20 ones from big 5 and they have lasted me all of last year, through some 20 degree weather with 100 mph gusts of wind.

Re:Goggles - 2006/11/12 08:32 mostly the 120 dollar goggles are just for looks. there are some things like better anti fogging and better lenses but if you're only skiin 20 times a year just stick with the 20 dollar goggles unless you really care about looks then mabey search for a pair that looks sweet but is low priced.

Re:Goggles - 2006/11/12 10:46 Hmm. I'd say someone who is riding 10-15 times a year could benefit from good gear. A good pair of goggles will last you at least a few years and the difference in lenses can be very noticeable. If you tried out a yellow or rose lens on a darker day you would never go back to using an all-purpose lens or a bright light lens. The difference in visibility is like night and day. Some all conditions lenses can also be too light for a really bright day causing you to squint. It really depends on how sensitive your eyes are to different light conditions. You can always get one good pair with a dark lens and buy and extra lens for dark conditions that you can switch out. That would be cheaper than having several sets of goggles. The only bad thing is that if you ride all the time the frames will wear out from all the switching.
