Rossignol '08 - 2007/09/25 22:46 I have always loved the Rossignol Scratch BC, now the Brigade BC WRS.

I am interested why this years ski isn't getting as much good press. The Steeze which is virtually identical in build is getting great reviews. The Brigade did seem slightly heavy compared to other brands of the same style.

Re:Rossignol '08 - 2007/09/26 03:27 Its because the brigade is meant to be an BC jib ski that does the park as well. on a back-country jump you want a stiffer tail and a softer tip so that you can land back seat and the ski wont come out from under you while the soft tips allow for the ski to float its way back to the surface so you don't tomahawk your self. When landing switch in pow the biggest concern is getting forward enough to keep the tails up, thus the softer tip is easier to flex and bring the tail up. Most everyday park riders want a center-mounted or close to it ski that has soft tails and tips so that it is easier to butter and ollie. as you can see Rossignol had to make compromises to make the ski a better all around ski. the Steeze on the other hand was designed for straight BC and pow so they could put characteristics that fit a BC ski like the 110mm waist and specific flex. The brigade had to account for park use so it was narrowed 12mm, the flex softened and given a little more side-cut. for carving off lips. therefore the ski caters more to a lighter skier because it has less footprint to keep you afloat and also has a softer flex so a bigger or stronger skier would over power it and would think of it as a noodle ski. the reason behind the lack of press is that the ski is not for everyone because of its ability to go from park to pow and its compromises but the ski could be the on for you you would just have to try it. the width of the brigade would be more than enough to keep me afloat but my personal preference is a stiffer ski. So if you are light like me and like a softer ski then it could be perfect.
