pants - 2006/12/22 16:14 hello everyone.

just wondering what everyone is wearing for pants. i'm looking to get some new ones, but it's been a while since i've been in the sport. everything seems so thin... does it really protect? i don't want to spend like 150 and then have to layer a ton under them. i know there are waterproof/breathability ratings, but i'm not sure what to get. is something like 5,000/5,000 for spring? i like special blend, foursquare for their style. but i want protectiong more. any suggestions? i'd prefer not to spend more then 150 or so. anyone have websites with good deals?

Re:pants - 2006/12/22 22:39 the 5k/5k rating means that in one hour the garmet can repell 5000ml. of water per square inch and let 5000grams of air pass trough. the higher ratings like 10k/10k or 15k/15k are best for wet spring stuff. I wear pants that are not much more than shells with just a lining in the knees and but/groin area and do just fine i skied in -40 with those pants on with some thick cotton pajama pants underneath.

Re:pants - 2006/12/26 15:38 awesome thanks. i've always had a pair of cheap "snow" pants, you know those super puffy pants, they feel like pillows wrapped around your legs. it's kind of weird, it seems like the best pants are the thinest. it just doesn't seem like they would be warm. anyway i picked up the special blend annex pant, it was on sale and plus i had a gift card for that mall. wore them on saturday, and couldn't be happier.
