In case you live under a rock we would like to inform you that the Lake Tahoe Region has been slammed by storms. Reports from 5-8 FEET meant happy smiles on faces of all those that reaped the benefits. Lapping trees at Red Dog, Squaw Valley USA, boulder and tree finding at Northstar at Tahoe. Kirkwood and their epic conditions.
Our skis and boards were much busier than our cameras (could you blame us?), but click below to take a look at a few pics.
Kirkwood Will be celebrating their 35th Anniversary this weekend, January 5th and 6th. Free Expedition Kirkwood clinics and other activities will be available. Event Schedule Here .
The weather forecasters are forecasting 7-10 FEET for this weekend. Everybody says Kirkwood is one of Tahoe's best for Pow days so make it the mountains.
The second stop of the Sick and Twisted Freestyle Tour, this event was originally slated to be a rail jam but thanks to the early season snow Tahoe has been getting, the park staff at Boreal was able to step it up and build a slopestyle course, complete with two moderately sized jumps, rail options, and a mini-wallride. Props goes out to the Boreal park staff for putting in the time and effort necessary to construct the course, good job guys!
A new ski Documentary is due to drop on Dec 21, 2007 in certain locations. Steep is "a feature documentary about bold adventure, exquisite athleticism and the pursuit of a perfect moment on skis." It will feature some of skiing finest, and all shot in HD. Skiing greats such as "Glen Plake, Shane McConkey, Seth Morrison, Chris Davenport, Ingrid Backstrom and Andrew McLean...[and]the late Doug Coombs."
I hope that this movie does a great job of portraying the feeling of exhilaration that skiing and the mountains can give. Watch the trailer here .
